A pack of wolves surrounded a massive bison during a tense winter encounter. The predators moved cautiously around the giant animal, looking for an opening while staying out of range of its horns and powerful hooves.
The bison repeatedly charged toward individual wolves, forcing them to scatter across the snow. But the pack remained persistent, circling and testing the animal from different directions.
For the moment, the bison managed to keep the wolves at bay. The dramatic standoff demonstrated the difficult balance between the strength of a giant herbivore and the teamwork of a coordinated predator
