Crocodile Bridge Gate to Reopen as Flooding Subsides

The Crocodile Bridge Gate in Kruger National Park is set to reopen to visitors as flooding in the area continues to subside following weeks of heavy rainfall.
The gate was temporarily closed after rising water levels along the Crocodile River made the low-level bridge unsafe for vehicles. Park authorities have since carried out safety inspections and confirmed that conditions have improved enough to allow access to resume.
Officials have stressed that the situation remains fluid, with weather conditions and upstream water releases still posing a potential risk. Visitors are urged to remain cautious, follow all instructions from park staff, and respect road closures and barricades that remain in place.
While the reopening brings welcome news for travelers eager to return to the southern region of the park, several roads and areas remain closed, including all gravel roads. SANParks has warned that access may change at short notice should conditions worsen again.
The reopening of Crocodile Bridge Gate marks a positive step in Kruger’s recovery after widespread flooding, allowing guests to once again enjoy one of the park’s most popular entry points — while ongoing assessments continue across affected areas.
