Three-Day-Old Baby Elephant Learns to Use Its Trunk

At just three days old, the newest member of the Oregon Zoo’s elephant family is already charming everyone with its curiosity and energy. Born on February 1, the calf is quickly learning the ropes of elephant life—especially how to use its trunk!
“Rose-Tu and her baby continue to do well,” said Steve Lefave, who oversees the zoo’s elephant program. “The calf is a quick learner with an outgoing personality and has great trunk control for such a young age. This little one is really keeping mom on her toes.”
