Blue Shark Stranded After Chasing Fish

On Easter Sunday in April 2012, a blue shark found itself stranded on the shores of Palliser Bay, South Wairarapa, New Zealand. The shark had been chasing a school of kahawai when the pursuit drove it too close to shore, leaving it beached and unable to return to the sea on its own.
Moments like this highlight both the agility and vulnerability of ocean predators. While sharks are built for speed and power in the water, a single miscalculation can leave them helpless on land. Fortunately, strandings such as this often draw quick human attention, giving these remarkable creatures a fighting chance to survive.
