Baby Hippo Protects Mother From Stalking Lion

A brave young hippo showed the true meaning of courage and strength by standing alone against a hungry lion to protect its mother.

Life in the wild is difficult, especially for younger animals that haven’t reached their full strength or size. For this young hippo, life got extremely dangerous when a hungry lion started eyeing up its mother for a meal. This footage, provided by Private Kruger Safaris in 2016, shows how these animals never stop fighting for survival, and how courage, even from vulnerable creatures, can make a huge difference in their lives. These two hippos were already experiencing pressures to their struggle for survival even before the arrival of the hungry lion. A drought in Kruger National Park caused the water levels to drop, affecting the availability of food and territory.
