This Warthog Took a Trip to the Mongoose Spa

In Uganda’s Queen Elizabeth National Park, the “banded brothers” mongoose family rule over one of the best territories around. But with rival mobs always eager to claim it, strength in numbers is key. The group thrives thanks to its breeding females, who ensure a steady stream of new recruits. Recently, three of the older females gave birth, and their litters have just begun to explore the world above ground for the very first time.
Yet life in the mongoose clan is never without challenges. As the pups stumble into the light, the banded brothers must defend their patch from competitors and deal with unexpected visitors—like a curious warthog stopping by for what looks like a trip to the “mongoose spa.” These playful, chaotic moments reveal both the fragility and resilience of life in the wild, where survival depends on teamwork, vigilance, and the bonds of family.
