A male rhino in Greater Kruger clearly woke up on the wrong side of the bed on the morning of 16 October 2024, when it started provoking a herd of elephants and one park ranger at the watering hole.
Tervin Mdluli, a safari professional, took his guests to the watering hole to see the elephants, whose tracks they’d been following. The rambunctious rhino was a bonus, and its behavior even more so, as it set about charging at the much larger animals.
One of the younger elephants was not willing to be scared away so easily and accepted the rhino’s challenge. Having two of the largest land animals in a direct face-off resulted in a lot of tension.
